League City
July 31, 2007
League City is located in the northern portion of Galveston County twenty-five miles south of Houston and 20 miles north of Galveston. Encompassing 55 square miles, the city borders the south shore of Clear Lake and extends westward toward the city of Friendswood. Originally a farming area, League City has matured from a small community into a large residential area complete with a unique blend of high-tech aerospace and petrochemical companies.
It is estimated that since the 2000 census the population in League City has grown over 35% estimating the current population at 61,393. The increase of population is due largely in part to the development of new master-planned communities. Some of the larger residential areas include South Shore Harbor, Tuscan Lakes, Brittany Lakes and Magnolia Creek.
League City is known for its recreational activities. The City is a boater’s paradise! The area is home to the third largest concentration of pleasure boats in the United States. There are also other amenities such as fishing, golfing, shopping in the historic district, museums, wildlife reserves, and recreational sports facilities. The City also offers monthly community events such as Music Festivals, the Oak Tree Festival, the Harvest Festival, and always a favorite is the Christmas Holiday in the Park.
League City’s convenient location between Houston and Galveston allows its residents an easy commute to and from work, whether working in Downtown Houston, the Medical Center, the Bay Area, Pasadena industries or Galveston.
League City is thriving with energy and optimism for a bright future! When you are thinking of purchasing a new home, you will want to visit League City. Your options are limitless! Ryson Real Estate would be happy to show you what League City has to offer you.
